Are Constant Or Overwhelming Worries And Doubts Impacting Your Life?
Do you feel worried, uneasy, or fearful about making seemingly routine decisions? Do you become nervous or overwhelmed by daily obligations or pressure at work or in social situations? Are racing thoughts that you can’t control keeping you awake at night as you think about the day you had or the day to come? Perhaps you have become more irritable or easily agitated. Do you sometimes feel as if you are going crazy?
You may notice physical symptoms of anxiety like rapid heart rate, sweating, headaches, and stomach pains. Or you might have a lot of physical energy but struggle to focus that energy on personal or professional responsibilities.
Are you having difficulty connecting with others or feeling secure in relationships? Do you wish that you could, for even just one moment, find peace and calm amidst the storm?
Anxiety Is One Of The Most Common Challenges Individuals In The U.S. Face Today
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, anxiety disorders are the most common mental illness in the U.S., affecting 40 million adults age 18 and older, or 18 percent of the population. And, 22.8 percent of those cases, or 4.1 percent of the U.S. adult population, are classified as severe. But because anxiety is not often talked about openly, many people feel misunderstood and alone as they try to understand and cope with distressing challenges and symptoms on their own.
Anxiety comes in many forms. Sometimes anxiety seems to be connected to incidents from the past. Other times, it is related to current life stressors or may be triggered by a loss, trauma, or major life transition. Symptoms vary on a spectrum from low level worry to debilitating fear that makes it impossible to manage day to day tasks, leave the house, or maintain close relationships, leading to loneliness and isolation. Many people with anxiety struggle to discern whether their anxiety is normal, chronic, learned, or genetic.
Whether anxiety is new to you or you have walked with it throughout your life, anxiety treatment and counseling can help you find peace, calm, and healing. With my guidance and support, you can learn to understand anxiety, recognize your triggers, reconnect with your inner strength, and find relief.
Anxiety Treatment Can Help You Feel Whole And Healthy Again
In a safe, supportive environment, you and I will work together to discover the underlying fears and needs that trigger your anxiety. By exploring these fears and needs, you will build a strong internal foundation and embrace yourself and your experience in a deeply profound way. Through this exploration, you will gain the skills and confidence you need to reduce and minimize anxious responses and learn to speak with yourself in a way that calms and soothes anxious thoughts and feelings. You will find again, or maybe for the first time, that place of calm inner strength that can get lost when fear and anxiety take over. With this newfound strength, you will engage with yourself, your work, your relationships, and your community in a more deeply authentic, calm way.
Anxiety may be a problem, but I still have questions and concerns about anxiety treatment and counseling:
How do I know if anxiety counseling is something I need or whether my symptoms will pass on their own?
It is possible your discomfort may pass on its own. That said, if the information on this page reached you in any way, you could be experiencing anxiety and may benefit from anxiety treatment or counseling. Anxiety counseling can help you to better understand the sources and causes of your anxiety so that, should you find yourself feeling anxious again, you will feel better equipped to cope with and manage difficult emotions and uncomfortable symptoms. And, if anxiety is already affecting and impacting your life, anxiety counseling or treatment can help you find your way back to a sense of emotional and physical balance that will sustain you as you live your life.
I think that anxiety treatment can help, but I’m concerned about whether I will be able to afford it and how much time it will take.
It is a common concern whether the benefits of anxiety treatment or counseling will outweigh the cost and time. I invite you to consider treatment as an investment in yourself, your relationships, and your future. Keep in mind that long-term stress and anxiety have a significant impact on your mental and physical well-being and your capacity to engage with those around you. If fear, stress, and anxiety are robbing you of engaging with yourself, your work, your relationships, and your community in meaningful ways, than anxiety treatment may be essential for you to find your way back to emotional and physical balance. As you engage in anxiety counseling you may find that the strides you make in addressing underlying fears and needs and building a strong internal foundation far outweigh the time and cost.
